What are the jobs that parents are required to do during the season?
Please review our list of Job Descriptions for parent work assignments.
What should I do in case of inclement weather?
Practice sessions and meets are generally held rain or shine, except when use of the pool is unsafe or when the pool is closed. The official means of notifying members of cancellations is the bulletin board at the pool. If you have received no information to the contrary, you should come to the pool for practice or a meet. If practice or a home meet is canceled, your child will be told at the pool. If an away meet is canceled, your child will be told when he or she arrives to board the bus. Even if the bus departs from our pool, an away meet may still get canceled upon arrival at the other pool. Coaches and meet directors will generally not cancel a meet until the host pool is officially closed for the remainder of the day. If a canceled meet is rescheduled, the new date will be posted on the bulletin board at the pool. Rescheduling a meet is not always possible.
What happens with my work assignment if a meet is canceled?
If the meet is rescheduled, you will be expected to work at the rescheduled meet.
What should I do when my child will not be able to attend a meet?
Leave a note in your coach's envelope on the bulletin board at the pool. Please do so at least three days in advance. Even if you tell a coach, still follow up with a note. There's just no way that the coaches can remember details for 200 swimmers and divers.
How can I learn what times my child has swum at a meet?
Ask your child. He or she may have already asked the timers at the end of each event. No, you may not walk up to a timer and ask yourself. Only swimmers may do so immediately after they climb out of the pool. Official meet results will be posted on the bulletin board and on the website.
For diving and for individual swimming events, ribbons are awarded to the first, second, and third place finishers. For swimming, this refers to Heat 1 only. For relay events, ribbons are awarded to the four members of the first place relay team only. Participant ribbons are awarded to all 8 & Under swimmers and divers who finish lower than third place.
